Local nonprofit asks county to consider vacant sheriff’s building for animal shelter

She said she has spoken with the District 1 commissioner and expects the item to appear on a future agenda for discussion. The speaker urged the board to inspect the property and consider community benefits of an existing building reuse instead of new construction.
