Committee defers mixed‑income pilot adjustments to May 6 as housing strategy is finalized

Councilwoman Allen, a sponsor of the resolution, moved to defer the item, saying the changes are intended “to allow tax abatements that will incentivize adding income‑restricted units into units that would otherwise be market rate.” She told the committee staff in the planning and housing divisions are nearing completion of a unified housing strategy and the sponsors prefer to return after that work is final so the resolution can be aligned with the strategy. “So we're gonna try to get on the backside of it,” Allen said. The committee agreed to defer consideration to the meeting on May 6.
The deferral will give staff time to incorporate the unified housing strategy into revisions to the pilot program. No formal amendments to the resolution were adopted at this meeting.
