Sarah Messmer of Hospice of Havasu updated council on hospice services, transitions program, grief support and an upcoming fundraiser; she highlighted that Hospice of Havasu provides care regardless of insurance or ability to pay.
At the start of Tuesday27s meeting, Sarah Messmer, community liaison for Hospice of Havasu, introduced the nonprofit27s services and upcoming events to the Lake Havasu City Council.
Messmer said Hospice of Havasu, established in 1982, is the only local 501(c)(3) nonprofit hospice serving Lake Havasu and Bullhead City areas and noted the organization27s five-star rating. She described hospice care as support that shifts focus from curative treatment to comfort and quality of life for patients in advanced illness, and she said Hospice of Havasu will provide care regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
Messmer highlighted the agency27s transitions program, which offers community resources and support for people living with serious illnesses and their caregivers, and community grief-support groups, available to anyone. She also described volunteer opportunities and the Hospice of Havasu resale store, which is open seven days a week. Messmer invited interested people to call Summer Ray Wine Bar and Local Eatery about tickets for an upcoming "Hospice Happening" progressive dinner fundraiser scheduled in March.
Councilmembers thanked Messmer for the presentation and for the organization27s community services.
Ending: No council action was required; the presentation was informational and council expressed appreciation for Hospice of Havasu27s community programs.
