Administrator reports dam work progressing, Meals on Wheels kitchen estimate nears $1 million, highway fatalities declined in 2024

On a separate health and human services initiative, staff shared engineering cost estimates for converting part of the Endeavor building into a central kitchen for Meals on Wheels. The estimate included window replacement ($32,000), pool fill and floor releveling ($53,000), and a commercial kitchen installation with permitting and engineering for a commercial hood that together brought the total to $999,819. Staff said HHS will discuss options and next steps for the project at that committee.
The administrator reported eight highway fatalities in 2024, down from an average of about 11 and a drop from 16 in 2023, and noted staff are preparing figures for 2025 planning. The administrator also said a property description cleanup returned a small wedge of land to private ownership and back on the tax roll after a survey correction.
No committee action was recorded on these informational items; staff said they will continue to report status updates to appropriate committees.
