Logan County Fiscal Court on Feb. 25 approved submission of a Kentucky Pride Fund recycling grant application for fiscal year 2025-26 to fund outreach and equipment at the county recycling center, including a dump trailer to improve cardboard handling.
County solid-waste staff presented three vendor quotes for a skid-tip dump trailer of the same specifications from Hayes Trailer (Russellville), Trailer Mart (Cave City), and Trailer World (Bowling Green). Staff recommended Hayes Trailer as the lowest and locally based bidder and said the county prefers the Hayes unit for lock and door features and local availability.
The court explicitly approved authorizing staff to apply for the grant; county staff clarified that no purchase will occur until a grant award is announced (staff said awards are typically announced in June or July) and said no county checks would be issued before the award. The court also approved small advertising purchases (newspaper, WRUS, and Facebook) included in the grant application to promote the recycling center and the service changes described elsewhere on the agenda.
