County departments report on Brownfield work, playground delivery, AEDs, pools and snow removal

Department heads briefed the Fiscal Court on several operational updates and near-term projects, including Brownfield environmental work, playground delivery, AED placement and employee training, pool operations and snow-removal maintenance.
Matt, introduced as Director of Development Services, said he would provide a fuller fiscal-court report next month but gave immediate project updates: playground equipment was scheduled to arrive on the 29th of the month pending weather for installation; Brownfield work was ready to begin once federal and state EPA plan approvals were obtained, with site work expected to start mid-to-late February after Terracon receives approvals.
Emergency-management staff announced the county purchased automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for government buildings, and mounting boxes recently arrived; the department plans to place the devices into service within the next month and offer CPR and first-aid training to county employees.
Parks and pool staff reported that a county pool's original Facebook page had been compromised; staff created a replacement page and encouraged the public to follow it. Kysock Pool adjusted hours: morning swim hours moved to 9 a.m.–noon, and evening hours on Tuesday and Thursday were extended to 5:30–9 p.m.
Roads and maintenance staff reported heavy use and several mechanical breakdowns during recent snow events. The road supervisor said parts were ordered, repairs completed and spare motors kept on hand to reduce future downtime.
Staff also flagged ongoing facility maintenance needs, including bids for a failing freezer and bathroom remodeling in the county facility. Several items (Crumb Rubber Grant reporting, Brownfield grant reporting) were noted as due at month-end and will be reported in greater detail in the next meeting.
