Court schedules public hearing on proposed relocation of Glistening Auto Salvage

Logan County Fiscal Court on Feb. 25 agreed to schedule a public hearing for a proposal to relocate Glistening Auto Salvage from a Homer Road site to a larger parcel off Highland Lake Road (Hunter Circle). The owner has requested the relocation and will pay for legal advertising required for the hearing.
County staff presented maps showing the property under consideration: the owner proposes to purchase about 45 acres of which roughly 30 acres would be used for salvage operations, leaving a 15-acre buffer between the salvage area and neighboring houses, county staff said. Staff said the site contains trees and terrain that could serve as a natural screen, and noted a creek and wetlands that would be subject to water-protection requirements.
Magistrates and residents raised concerns at the meeting about traffic and the effect of salvage-yard vehicles traveling past existing homes and subdivisions (Magistrates cited nearby neighborhoods such as Highland Grove and Stonewall). The court confirmed that the owner must run the required newspaper advertisement (once in the official paper) at his expense and that the court will hold a public hearing at the second March meeting. County officials also said they will advertise the hearing on the county Facebook page and accept written comments at the county clerk—s drop box for constituents unable to attend.
County staff said they will inspect site access and road width and will report back to the court; the court asked staff to assess whether the Hunter Circle entrance is safe for commercial traffic. The court emphasized its quasi-judicial role at the hearing: the hearing allows neighbors to present concerns and for the applicant to respond.
Ending: The owner asked to be notified of the hearing date; staff said it will be scheduled when the advertisement is filed and that the owner will cover the advertising cost.
