Parents press district about preschool offerings as superintendent says program decisions await state budget

Superintendent Jeremy Jankowski replied that the district’s ability to finalize preschool offerings depends on state funding. He said GSRP funding in recent years has been one-year appropriations and that while the governor’s proposed budget includes preschool funding, the House and Senate processes could change the final allocations. He told the board and the parent that staff will monitor the governor’s state-of-the-state address and the House budget release and that the district expects more clarity within about 30 days after the legislature releases budget details. Jankowski said the district would plan accordingly and would include program locations (ECC and McDonald were mentioned as likely sites) once state allocations are finalized.
