Wendy, speaking on behalf of the YWCA, used the public comment period to request a concept understanding letter from the Butler County commissioners. She said the YWCA is finalizing a Low‑Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) application to the Ohio Housing Finance Agency for a 45‑unit apartment building intended to house families fleeing domestic violence; she asked commissioners to sign a concept letter to support the final application, which is due within 48 hours of her appearance before the board.
Wendy described the development as a program for families fleeing domestic violence and said a recent fatality in Ohio made the request urgent. She emphasized the YWCA’s experience operating supportive housing and asked only for a concept letter, not a formal endorsement. She also promoted the YWCA’s March 8 “Her Story and Heritage” community festival at the Champion Mill/Spooky Nook complex, a free daytime event with vendors and children’s activities and a ticketed evening concert.
Commissioners allowed Wendy to speak beyond the usual two‑minute public comment limit to present both items and asked staff about community engagement; Wendy said attendance at community meetings had been light in recent weeks though the organization continues outreach.
