Butler County accepts 0.747-acre right-of-way for Milliken Road turn lane

The Butler County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 19 approved Resolution 21,359 accepting a 0.747-acre dedication of land for right-of-way at Milliken Road and Princeton Glen Road in Liberty Township to permit construction of a turn lane into the Carriage Meadows subdivision.

Craig Cloudy, with the Butler County Department of Development, told commissioners the dedication is tied to a required turn lane for the subdivision. “For the Milliken Road is for the, for the Carriage Meadows. It's in relation to the proposed turn lane, the required turn lane into the subdivision there,” Cloudy said.

The commissioners approved the resolution by voice vote; Commissioner Carpenter and Commissioner Dixon voted yes. The motion and second were recorded in the meeting minutes but the transcript does not identify the individual who moved or seconded by name. Commissioners also asked that a second resolution concerning Freedom Point Phase 11, Lot 14 (Resolution 21,347) be tabled to a future meeting.

Cloudy said the right-of-way dedication follows subdivision regulations that require the turn lane after a later phase of the development. “I know it was through the subdivision regulations. It was a required, a requirement that after I believe the second or third phase was completed, the turn lane was to be put in,” he said.

The action approves land dedication only; the transcript does not specify funding sources or a construction schedule for the turn lane.

Votes at the meeting show the board approved Resolution 21,359 and moved Resolution 21,347 to a later meeting; no further formal actions on design or construction were recorded.
