The Midland Public Schools Board of Education on March 3 approved an amendment to extend the closing date for the district’s Eastland property purchase agreement by 30 days, moving the closing to March 24, board members said.
Penny (staff) told the board the amendment was requested by the title company to allow more time to resolve title concerns, particularly a drainage easement. She said the City of Midland and both parties to the sale had been cooperative, and that the sale price and purchaser remain unchanged.
Member Horowitz moved to support the Eastland Property Purchase Agreement amendment; Vice President McFarland supported the motion. Board members approved the extension by voice vote. During discussion the board confirmed that two prior amendments had previously extended dates on the agreement and that no other closing conditions or the purchase price had changed.
Penny said the title company requested the amendment to ensure “everything is in alignment for closing,” and that staff expects a closing in March once the drainage-easement and title concerns are resolved.
No additional contractual details, purchaser identity, or sale price were provided in the special meeting discussion. The board concluded the special meeting after approving the amendment and other listed items.
The amendment extends a previously amended purchase agreement; the board noted that earlier extensions (amendments one and two) had been approved at prior meetings.
