Pueblo County approves secure transportation permits for two providers

Pueblo County commissioners voted Thursday to approve secure transportation service licenses and vehicle permits for MetroOne Ambulance LLC and AAA Secure Ride LLC so the companies can provide and bill for secure transports of people experiencing mental-health or behavioral-health crises.
County Attorney Cynthia Mitchell told the board the applications had been vetted by the county attorney’s office and met the county’s requirements, including insurance, training and internal policies. Kevin Sandoval, who identified himself as a representative of MetroOne Ambulance, said MetroOne already holds a ground-ambulance license in Colorado and conducts behavioral-health transports but needs the new county permit to bill certain insurers, including Medicaid.
“The state is requiring licenses by counties and permits in order for us to bill certain insurances like Medicaid in particular,” Sandoval said.
The commissioners moved and seconded approval; the board recorded the motion as carried. The county recorded the approvals as being made pursuant to the county’s public policy and procedures regarding secure transportation services.
The action applies to the two named providers; the county did not announce a detailed vote-by-name tally during the meeting. No amendments or conditions were recorded in the public motion on the record.
