County staff told the Board of County Commissioners on Feb. 25 that a misrouting of some employees’ medical ID cards or insurance-plan identifiers was identified and that staff expect a technical fix within 24 hours.
County Manager Espina Genesio told commissioners that an email had gone to county staff and asked employees who encounter coverage problems at providers or pharmacies to submit a work ticket so the county and Anthem can resolve the issue. Genesio said the project team responded quickly and that the total number of Workday-related tickets since Jan. 31 was 292, with 209 closed and 54 pending at the time of the update.
Why it matters: Payroll and benefits issues affect individual employees’ access to care and pay and are a high-priority operational issue for county administration.
Genesio reported a “significant decrease in the daily number of new tickets” and thanked departments and elected offices for patience during the Workday transition. A commissioner voiced support for switching to an every-other-week (biweekly) payroll schedule; another commissioner asked staff to examine the logistics and costs of that change.
Ending: Staff said they will continue to troubleshoot remaining tickets, provide reports to the board and investigate payroll-frequency options; no formal decision on payroll frequency was made at the meeting.
