The council approved declaring an older fire department vehicle surplus and authorized staff to sell it, and discussed a related vehicle acquisition for the police department.
City staff told the council an older white hybrid vehicle, driven by an assistant chief for about two years, was reaching a point where maintenance made continued use impractical. The city plans to purchase a leased police vehicle (said to have about 17,000 miles) for roughly $4,000 and reassign the older vehicle to the fire department to cover short-term needs. The older vehicle will then be declared surplus and put up for sale.
After brief questions from council members, a motion to approve the disposition was made, seconded and approved unanimously.
