Board approves several budget amendments and amends TRIM calendar to Sept. 4

The St. Johns County School Board approved multiple budget amendments covering district and restricted funds and agreed to revise the TRIM (Truth-in-Millage) calendar by moving the final public hearing to Sept. 4, 2025.

Budget director Amy Snodgrass presented the December budget adjustments for the district, reporting an increase in local revenue of $333,718.47 driven by rent, donations and miscellaneous revenue; the amended total revenues and beginning fund balance for fiscal year 2024–25 were cited as $544,806,144.62. The motion to approve that budget amendment was moved by Ms. Lau and seconded by Ms. Collins and passed by voice vote.

A separate amendment for First Coast Technical College (FCTC) reflected a $315 revenue increase tied to facility rental and brought the FCTC total to $14,792,891.81; the board approved that amendment on a motion by Ms. Collins, seconded by Dr. Thompson.

Another restricted-fund amendment (carryovers for supply chain and summer food service program) reallocated $1,380,416.02 into salaries, benefits, purchased services, energy and materials; the board approved the item by voice vote.

On the TRIM calendar, Chief Financial Officer Miss Weber reviewed required TRIM deadlines and proposed dates for advertising the tentative budget and holding public hearings. Board members agreed to move the final budget-adoption public hearing from the previously listed Sept. 9 to Sept. 4 at 5:30 p.m.; the board instructed staff to notify the property appraiser on Sept. 5. Ms. Slough moved the calendar amendment and Ms. Collins seconded; the motion carried.

All amendments and the TRIM-calendar amendment passed by voice vote; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript.
