St. Johns School Board hears recommendation to adopt McGraw Hill texts for new personal financial literacy course

The St. Johns County School Board on Wednesday held a publicly noticed hearing to present recommended instructional materials for a newly required high-school personal financial literacy and money management course. District staff said McGraw Hill was the committee’s top choice, with Cengage National Geographic Learning as the second selection.

Tracy Hemingway, the district’s director for curriculum and instruction, told the board the Instructional Resources and Media Services team and the curriculum staff “have worked alongside the curriculum team these last several months requesting, receiving, and reviewing our personal financial literacy and money management textbook materials from the Florida Department of Education to present to you today.” She said the course is required for students who entered ninth grade beginning in the…
