Dave Huber, senior public‑sector manager for Waste Management, and Jason Willie, district manager for Newberg operations, told the council that Waste Management has reopened its local office for public customer service. Huber said the office on Winooski Road, closed for a time, is open effective this month; Jason Willie introduced Demery (10‑year company employee) who will staff the office.
Jason Willie said the office will open to the public beginning next Monday with initial hours of 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; the hours may expand if demand warrants. The office will handle customer questions about collection routes, transfer‑station rules, recycling guidance and related service issues. WM staff said they are still working to establish a direct phone line to Demery but encouraged customers to visit the office in person in the interim.
Councilors present thanked Waste Management for responding to earlier community feedback and said they hope the local presence improves customer service and reduces calls to council offices about garbage and recycling issues. No formal action or city funding was associated with the announcement.
What’s next: Waste Management will staff the office with Demery and monitor demand for potential expanded hours.
