School committee appoints Dr. Stacy Rogers interim director of special education

Superintendent Dr. Campbell told the committee he had already announced that Rogers would cover the director's responsibilities and formally recommended the committee endorse that interim appointment. “My recommendation was to formalize that to get the support of the school committee in our next meeting,” Campbell said, asking the committee to authorize an interim arrangement while the district pursues a permanent hire.
Committee members moved and seconded a motion to approve the interim appointment; the vote was unanimous. Campbell said the district will seek contracted support for duties outside Rogers’s interim portfolio to ensure the workload is manageable and that Rogers will receive supplemental help to handle the director‑level responsibilities in addition to her assistant‑superintendent role.
Dr. Rogers thanked the committee and said she looks forward to reconnecting with special‑education department heads and families. The committee did not set a search timeline in the meeting transcript but said it intended to pursue a permanent solution while giving Rogers the necessary interim supports.
