Rutland Regional Planning Commission reviews midpoint draft of regional plan, schedules further revisions

The Rutland Regional Planning Commission on Feb. 18 reviewed the midpoint working draft of its regional plan update and heard summaries from staff authors for the plan’s 10 topical chapters, staff said.

At the meeting, Stephanie Burks, staff member, said commissioners had a limited window to review the draft and that staff planned another round of drafting in March and April with a goal of delivering formatted layout to the commission in June. “We’re targeting April to have all of that done so that we can provide all of the content to our graphic designer,” Burks said.

The review used a SurveyMonkey questionnaire that prompted chapter-by-chapter responses; staff reported a low number of full-board responses — typically three to eight answers per chapter. The staff authors and executive committee summarized common comments and the next steps. “This is the opportunity for the whole board to maybe recognize the executive committee and all of their efforts,” Burks said, adding that the executive committee and staff have invested substantial volunteer and staff time on the draft.
