Solid Waste department clears purchases: hook-pup trailer and shop remodel approved

The Hubbard County Board approved two solid-waste purchases: replacement of a hook-pup trailer used with the county hook truck and a modest shop remodel at the Park Rapids transfer station.
Solid Waste staff said the low quote for a Great Lakes SR2440 Pup Trailer from Northland Truck Sales (West Fargo) was $36,900; the county will retain the existing trailer as a backup. The trailer is used to haul recyclables to Polk County and sometimes organics or MSW.
The board also approved a shop remodel at Building C at the transfer station, awarding a $14,664 quote to Haudia Contracting of Menahga (the vendor was already on site performing other MCIT-related repairs). The remodel will remove a partition wall to expand shop workspace and add a second heater; lighting upgrades to LED will be done separately.
Why it matters: The trailer replacement maintains the county's hauling capability and the shop remodel provides needed space to service larger equipment without off-site work.
Both items were approved by voice vote and staff said the trailer is in stock and the contractor is available to begin remodeling work.
