The Nicollet County Board approved a delegation agreement with Lake Prairie Township to transfer local planning and zoning responsibilities related to cannabis regulation.
County Attorney’s Office staff presented the delegation agreement and said this is the twelfth of 13 township agreements the county has been offering since September 2024; the county is awaiting Traverse Township’s response. The delegation agreements let townships assume planning and zoning authority for local cannabis regulation in lieu of county-level permitting.
Board action: The board moved, seconded and approved the Lake Prairie Township delegation agreement by voice vote.
What’s next: County staff said they will continue to work on the outstanding delegation and finalize the package for Traverse Township. The county attorney noted the item had also received press coverage the same morning.
