Morrison County approves tobacco license for Dollar General in Pierz

The Morrison County Board of Commissioners approved a tobacco license for a Dollar General store in Pierz, Minnesota, after Health and Human Services Director Nathan (Nate) Bertram presented the application.
Bertram said the application arrived the morning of the meeting and that the county’s role is to sign off before the application is forwarded to the state for issuance. "If you are all in favor and approving of it, then we sign off and it goes to the state who then actually issues the license, is my understanding," Bertram said. Commissioner Blaine moved to approve the license; the motion was seconded. Commissioners voted by voice; the chair announced the motion carried.
Bertram noted tobacco licenses cover traditional tobacco and smokeless products; he added that vaping products likely fall under the county’s licensing process as well. The board took no further conditions on the license at the meeting.
