Cook County Economic Development Authority commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding with Pete (Peter) Mott to provide small‑business consulting services in 2025.
The EDA has contracted with Northland Foundation in prior years to provide SBDC services in the county. After a search process that included Northland and Pat (the outgoing consultant), the board recommended adopting the MOU with Mott. Commissioners and staff described the arrangement as substantially consistent with prior practice: Northland will reimburse the EDA for hours worked and the EDA will invoice Northland for consultant time. The new agreement keeps the same number of contracted hours with a small increase in hourly rate.
Pat, the outgoing consultant, told commissioners she will work with Mott through March to ensure a smooth transition; Northland and the EDA will provide support. Mott introduced himself to the board and described his background as a longtime Minnesotan who moved to Cook County about eight years ago and previously served as a state park ranger.
The resolution was moved, seconded, and passed by voice vote.
Staff will finalize the MOU and confirm operational details for invoicing and hours with Northland and the EDA.
