Representative Silva introduced House Bill 288, a one‑time $100,000 appropriation to the Department of Finance and Administration to fund a feasibility study for Chaparral and to contract with a regional council of governments. “House bill 288 would make an appropriation to conduct a feasibility study for the community of Chaparral. It's a hundred thousand dollars one time that would go to DFA and then contract with the South Central council Southeast Council of Governments,” Silva said in committee testimony.
No in‑person or online opponents appeared and members noted the request aligns with public‑safety funding directed in the budget. The chair confirmed the appropriation is included in broader budget planning. A tabling motion was made and adopted by voice vote; the chair said, “There’s a motion, tabling motion. Is there any opposition to that? Seeing none, it’s been tabled, but it’s moving forward in House Bill 2.”
