Board members proposed scheduled, visible times for board members to be available at assigned schools so teachers and staff can raise concerns in person. The superintendent asked members to coordinate dates through district staff (Lorraine) so the district can advise principals and post schedules.
On Guardian (a proposed safety staffing/guard program), the superintendent said the district is still awaiting a third calculation to determine available dollars; district leaders said executive session will be scheduled to discuss Guardian further and that the board’s outstanding questions will be compiled for a session that will include the sheriff’s office. District officials said bargaining and insurance work took priority and delayed Guardian scheduling.
Board members requested that if a school’s number of choice applicants exceeds capacity the district publish clear decision criteria and a transparent rubric for selection; they also asked that changes made between a workshop and the final agenda be highlighted for board review. For AMP coordination, district staff named Marcus Sanfilippo and John Fanelli as district points of contact and said the AMP/web pages will be updated with current contacts and processes.
Other requests included reminders about master school board training sign-up and follow-through on communicating the planned school-visit schedule to principals. The superintendent committed to communicating the proposed board-visit dates to school leaders at the next leadership meeting and to returning to the board with Guardian scheduling once bargaining and insurance matters are resolved.
