Flagler Schools highlights academic and equity targets in strategic‑plan spotlight

The district set targets to increase the number of schools meeting a federal percentage‑points index threshold of 41% for students with disabilities (from 1 school to 6 schools) and for Black/African‑American students (from 6 schools to 9 schools). The district also identified a districtwide diploma‑plus/college‑and‑career acceleration target to raise the metric from 48% to 54%; the most recent lagging indicator reported in the meeting was 47% for the district’s seniors.
Priority strategies described included instructional reviews and collaborative team meetings, work with the state Bureau of School Improvement and Solution Tree to strengthen collaborative teaming, outreach to early‑learning providers through the CLSD grant, standardizing MTSS processes with an expanded focus on behavior and mental‑health supports, and targeted high‑school counselor outreach to middle‑school students about accelerated coursework and industry certifications.
Board members asked how school improvement plan growth targets align with the strategic plan goals; staff said some school plans were drafted before the strategic plan timeline and that future planning cycles will align district targets and school goals. Staff also asked principals in the room to follow the district’s walk‑through and data processes as they finalize midyear school improvement reflections.
