Clayton issues proclamations for Procurement Month, Employee Appreciation Day and honors local basketball team

The Clayton Town Council issued three proclamations recognizing procurement professionals, town employees and the Clayton Comets men's basketball team.

Mayor Jody McLeod read a proclamation declaring March 2025 as Procurement Month in Clayton, praising procurement, purchasing and materials management professionals and referencing the North Carolina Association of Governmental Purchasing, the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing and the North Carolina Department of Administration's Division of Purchase and Contract as sponsors of related educational activities. The proclamation text noted procurement professionals "uphold the highest ethical standards while ensuring the responsible use of taxpayer dollars." The council recorded the proclamation as "Proclaimed by the Clayton Town Council on this March 2025."

Councilmember Williams presented a proclamation recognizing town employees and declaring a March 2025 Employee Appreciation Day, citing the staff's daily service in areas such as public safety, utilities and administration. The council also issued a proclamation recognizing the Clayton Comets men's basketball team for winning the 2025 Greater Neuse River Conference tournament title with a reported final score of 72–48 over the Garner Trojans; the proclamation commended the team's athletic commitment and academic eligibility requirements for student athletes.
