Pflugerville City Council approved Jan. 28 the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation board of directors ethics policy for annual board signature and agreed to schedule a separate, longer review of the city code of conduct and related ethics policies.
Councilmember Rogers and others raised concerns that the city's code of conduct, as written, could be read to restrict council subcommittees; Rogers proposed a small council subcommittee (himself, Mayor Pro Tem Holiday and Councilmember Ruiz) to review possible amendments and consider harmonizing the PCDC and city policies. Several members suggested starting with a May lunch-and-learn session to review codes of conduct from other cities and to discuss potential revisions.
Council approved the PCDC ethics policy on a voice vote and directed staff to set up a lunch-and-learn in May to review both the city code of conduct and the PCDC policy with the full council. Staff noted PCDC had already signed its code of ethics recently.
