Two Pflugerville residents urge commission to oppose nearby ICE processing facility

Two Pflugerville residents used the meeting’s citizen‑communication period to ask the Planning and Zoning Commission to record opposition to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) processing facility located near Roe Lane.
Allison Thompson, who said she lives at 903 Rolling Meadow Drive and has been a Pflugerville resident for 11 years, said the facility appears to have been set up without following city procedures and that neighbors do not know the facility’s intended operations. "I'm here to speak against this ICE facility in our Fair City," Thompson said. She described razor wire and tall fences at the site and said she had driven by the address at 2200 All Greg Street and seen irrigation running during drought conditions.
Donald Jones, who corrected his name at the start of his remarks and said he lives near the fire department at 301 South Railroad, also said he opposes the facility. Jones said he and Thompson attend Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church, which runs twice‑monthly food pantries. Jones and Thompson said pantry attendance recently dropped and that fear of enforcement actions may be deterring clients: "Many of our clients are from Pflugerville...we are surmising that is out of fear of ice...That broke our hearts," Thompson said.
Both speakers asked the commission and city staff to note public opposition on the record. Commissioners acknowledged the comments and reminded speakers that citizen communications are recorded for the public record; the commission did not take formal action during the meeting.
