At its March 3 meeting the Fortuna City Council approved the consent calendar, which included acceptance of a $30,000 donation from the Bob and Jenny Canterbury Foundation to offset youth sports fees.
Council Member Conley reported meeting with Jenny Canterbury and said the couple did not want children to be excluded from sports because of fees. "She made a donation for, dollars 30,000 to go towards these fees, for the kids so the kids could all play," Conley said. The staff report noted the funds will be used for fees primarily for soccer and fast-pitch programs and that the donors have been contacted about how to receive reimbursement through the city.
The consent calendar — which also included city council minutes of Feb. 18 and a report on disbursements — was approved by motion and second; the recorded vote in the meeting was unanimous among members present.
