The Springfield City Licensing Commission on Feb. 12 unanimously approved a change of trade name for a liquor license, approved corrected minutes from a January hearing and voted to take no action on two incident reports arising from arrests outside local bars.

The commission approved a petition to change the doing-business-as name from Chestnut Package to Pace Liquors for the license tied to 572 Saint James Avenue, with Raksha Gogury listed as manager of record. Peter moved to approve the petition and an unnamed commissioner seconded; the roll call recorded Commissioners Cade, Singletore, D'Angelantonio, Ramirez and Espinosa voting yes.

The vote came after brief discussion noting the change was a DBA only; attorney Days was not present when commissioners voted. “I make a motion to approve, petition the petition for change of DBA from Chestnut package to Pace Liquors located at 572 Saint James Avenue, Raksha Gogury, Manager Of Record,” the record shows. The commission approved the motion by roll call.

The panel also approved corrected minutes for the Jan. 29 Licensing Commission hearing after a commissioner noted a correction to the sixth order of business. A motion to approve the minutes (with that correction) passed by roll call with the same five commissioners recorded as voting yes.

On two administrative incident reports, the commission voted to take no action. One report covered an arrest on Jan. 26, 2025, at about 2:02 a.m. near Face's Grill Bar and Lounge; the record notes the incident occurred outside the bar after closing and that the reported reaching for a “carrier” referred to an outer ballistic vest carrier rather than a firearm. Another report concerned an arrest on Feb. 1, 2025, at about 1:26 a.m. in front of The Zone; the record indicates the alleged victim had been inside but the other person involved had not entered and the confrontation occurred as the victim walked to her car. For each report a motion to take no action was made and seconded; the motion passed on roll call with no recorded dissents.

The commission adjourned at 6:12 p.m.
