Public Works staff said the project covers an increased area this year (168,000 square yards) compared with last year's work; Asphalt Preservation LLC was the sole responsive bidder. Staff noted a second bid arrived 40 minutes late and could not be considered. Council authorized staff to proceed; staff said they could negotiate additional square yards at similar pricing if funding permitted.
The work is part of the city's pavement-preservation program and follows the Finance/Forces Committee recommendations. The contract award authorizes staff to finalize scope and schedule with the contractor and begin coordination for summer work.
