Alderman Beck moved approval of the proclamation, and the council approved it by roll call. Mayor Schuelke then invited members of the Batavia Women’s Club to the dais. Cynthia Kiekeffer accepted the proclamation on behalf of the club and described the organization’s continuing community work. "We are 88 women strong right now," Kiekeffer said, and she outlined recent grant and civic-support activity the club performs annually.
The mayor also recounted historical contributions by the women's club, including early fundraising that aided the fire department’s first rescue truck in the 1950s. Council members and attendees took a group photo after the presentation.
