Committee members also recommended several campus repairs and improvements for board approval: concrete repairs and ADA improvements at the middle school; replacement of rusted metal bathroom partitions at an elementary school with low-maintenance poly partitions; and installation of energy-efficient hand dryers at Central Mountain Middle School to reduce paper-towel disposal problems that have caused sewer complaints.
Signage: The committee discussed quotes for a programmable LED marquee; electronic portion bids ranged from approximately $19,000 to $34,000. Committee members noted the masonry work to support the sign will be donated by the contractor, reducing total district cost; board members asked staff to seek lower-cost alternatives and to identify local vendor options.
Mill Hall pool request: Representatives of Mill Hall requested a $100,000 district contribution toward pool rehabilitation. Several board members acknowledged the pools value to the community but questioned the districts ability to fund the request given budget pressures. Board member Bill said the district cannot responsibly commit that sum while considering possible tax increases. Multiple trustees suggested assisting with fundraising, student-led campaigns and cooperative support rather than a direct appropriation at this time. One trustee offered to personally donate and board members proposed district-supported fundraising drives involving schools and community organizations.
