The Rancho Mirage City Council on March 6 received and filed a wireless master plan that maps real-world cellular coverage and directs staff to pursue a multi-pronged implementation strategy to improve service citywide.
Jason Hedegay, Director of Information Services, presented the plan and told the council staff and consultant Southland Technologies conducted field tests, modeled carrier coverage, and identified site-specific interventions. Hedegay said the study documented 23 cell sites in the city (18 operational, three under construction and two decommissioned) and found carriers operating fewer than the 12 sites the report recommends per carrier for adequate coverage in the community.
