The board also adopted a proclamation designating March 9–15, 2025, as AmeriCorps Week in Norfolk County and voted to table a transfer request from the town of Dover to next week.
Commissioners opened the meeting with a hybrid quorum and moved through routine business. The board approved the rehire of seven seasonal golf associates and the contingent hiring of two additional seasonal associates for the Wallsend (Wallachian in transcript) recreation/golf facility, and then approved a series of county and Aggie payroll and expense warrants totaling the amounts stated on the warrants presented at the meeting.
The commissioners approved two procurement items brought by the county procurement director: a lease for a tennis pro at the Wallsend recreation facility and a multi-year equipment lease (Groundmaster mowers) financed through PNC Bank. The board voted to send a letter of support for Randolph’s Fiscal 2025 CDBG application to the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities, as requested by Randolph’s housing authority. Commissioners also unanimously approved a proclamation recognizing AmeriCorps Week and heard a presentation from Lucille Casas, director of Norfolk County RSVP, who reported Norfolk County RSVP has about 200 volunteers and recently added three drivers for the program’s “Bridging for Vets” transportation effort.
In grants business, staff recommended and the commissioners approved a second round of opioid-related grants totaling $12,000 to be divided equally among Brookline, Foxwell Public Schools, Holbrook Cares Initiative, Medfield, Milton, Norwood, Quincy and Stoughton (applicant list as presented). The board also authorized staff to pursue additional information and a site visit for potential electric vehicle charging at county locations and agreed to extend that item for one week to gather electric-usage data and confirm site details.
The board declined to act on a transfer request from the town of Dover (moving funds between two previously approved county applications) and voted to table that transfer to the next weekly meeting to allow the town and county staff to complete required transfer paperwork.
