Chair Mayne said the tour was intended as an "informative tour of a department of corrections prison" that would offer members "a glimpse of daily operations within a correctional facility," and warned members of the facility's security restrictions.
Committee staff and security briefed members on logistics before departing. The committee planned to proceed to the North Loading Zone; Representative Guerrero was expected to meet the delegation in the parking area behind the House office building, where house vans would be waiting. The Sergeant's Office said staff were arranging water for members to take on the vans prior to entry.
On security and electronics, Chair Mayne told members: "You can secure your cell phones and any Apple watches in the van, because they'll stay manned, but you can't take them in the facility." The chair also noted that the group would "adjourn on-site at the conclusion of our tour." After the briefing, the panel recessed "for transportation."
