Panel approves allowing Endless Summer specialty license plates for motorcycles

Representative Besabe introduced House Bill 267 on behalf of supporters who said it would let motorcyclists buy the existing Endless Summer specialty plate and direct proceeds to coastal conservation and lifeguard programs. "I am pleased to present HB267, which expands the popular Endless Summer specialty license plate to motorcycles," Besabe said. "Has no significant fiscal impact."

The measure, presented to the Government Operations Subcommittee on March 1, 2025, would add motorcycles to an existing specialty-plate program tied to Surfing Evolution and Preservation Corporation, which the sponsor described as funding coastal conservation, lifeguard programs and efforts to preserve Florida's surfing heritage. Supporters told the committee the change simply broadens an established option for vehicle owners.

Committee members had no questions or amendments and no members of the public provided testimony on HB 267. After a roll-call vote, Chair Cheney announced that HB 267 "passes unanimously." The committee did not record additional fiscal notes during the hearing and the sponsor said the bill had "no significant fiscal impact on the state."

The bill will move to the next committee of reference. If enacted, the change would allow motorcycle owners to buy the Endless Summer plate using the same application and fee structure already in place for passenger vehicles, and the sponsor said proceeds would continue to support Surfing Evolution and Preservation Corporation programs.

Faith, the committee clerk, called the roll during both the presentation and final vote as part of the record; the measure drew no amendments and no public debate at the hearing.
