Hawaii Senate recesses after roll call, referrals and Tourism Day recognitions
Summary

Mister President called the Hawaii Senate to order and the clerk conducted roll call, after which the chamber recorded 21 senators present and four excused.
The session included introductions of guests and visitors, acknowledgments of Tourism Day at the Capitol and routine floor business. On the floor, the clerk reported that Governor's message numbers 713–717 — transmitting nominations to various boards and commissions — were filed and referred to committee “in accordance with the referrals listed on the order of the day,” and that Governor's message number 718 withdrew a nomination to the board of directors of the Hawaii Hurricane Relief Fund.
Senators recognized visiting students from Kahakai Elementary School, University of Hawaiʻi Shidler College of Business students and tourism-industry guests, and Senator Jolene DeCoite used her personal-interest time to thank organizers of Tourism Day. Senator Jolene DeCoite said, “I'd like to give a big shout out and thank you all for coming today.” Senator Kanuha introduced the visiting elementary students and asked members to hold applause until all names were called.
The clerk also announced the introduction of measures: Senate concurrent resolution numbers 51–67 and Senate resolution numbers 33–51 were referred to committee for further action. The chair reminded members that the deadline to file senate concurrent resolutions and senate resolutions with the clerk's office was 4:30 p.m. that day.
Late in the morning, Senator Ron Wakai moved that the Senate stand in recess, leave the journal open until 4:30 p.m. for receipt of concurrent and senate resolutions, and reconvene at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 10. Senator Jolene DeCoite seconded the motion. With no objections from members, the Senate stood in recess as moved.
The chamber's remaining actions for the day were procedural: referrals of introduced measures to committee and filing of governor messages as noted by the clerk. No substantive policy debate or recorded roll-call votes on measures occurred during the portion of the session covered in the transcript.
