Rules Committee approves technical correction to House Bill 555 after drafting error

“This bill passed out of judiciary near unanimous. I think it was 15 to 1, but the issue was there were at least 2 amendments that were made in judiciary and an issue happened when the legislative council was finalizing the committee substitute where those amendments were made to the previous version of the bill, not the correct version. So this is just correcting the snafu that happened with the drafting after the fact,” the Leader of Administration said.
The Leader of Administration stated there were no other substantive changes. Members moved and seconded the rule substitute; a voice vote was taken, members said “aye,” and the motion passed. The committee placed the rule substitute for House Bill 555 (rule substitute, LC443140S) on the second supplemental calendar.
