Police chief says SpyderTech victim‑notification software near activation after grant award

Chief Edin Garcia said the city received a $20,000 grant through the council of governments with a required cash match of $4,000 that the department has available. He described the software as a victim‑notification tool and said department personnel and IT have been working with the vendor to conclude the setup. “We did receive a grant…for an amount of $20,000. There is a cash match that we'll have to come up with. It's $4,000, but we have it,” Garcia said.
Chief Garcia told council members that department staff and the vendor have been coordinating and the department is “almost concluded” with implementation and will activate the software when the final steps are complete. Mayor and council expressed appreciation for police and fire staff and for coordination between departments.
No council action was required on the informational presentation.
