Commission continues two wetland hearings, renews Barton Farm tapping license; SVT prescribed-burn session planned

Sudbury Conservation Commission continued hearings for 20 Tavern Circle (to March 10) and 331 Hudson Road (to Feb. 24), approved a one-year agricultural tapping license for Mark Kolinowski at Barton Farm through April 1, 2025, and staff noted an SVT prescribed-burn informational session on Feb. 25 at Goodnow Library.
At its Feb. 10, 2025 meeting, the Sudbury Conservation Commission took several procedural actions and handled a short slate of "other business" items.
The commission continued the hearing for a notice of intent at 20 Tavern Circle to March 10, 2025, at the applicant's request because the DEP file number had not yet been received and the applicant (Mister Drew) was unavailable for the Feb. 24 meeting. The motion to continue was made and seconded; the roll call recorded commissioners Cook, Bruce Porter, Mark Severe and Dave Henkel in favor.
The commission also continued the hearing for 331 Hudson Road (DEP file 3011428) to Feb. 24, 2025. Laurie told the commission she had received a revised plan and notice of intent the same day and that the Zoning Board of Appeals had granted a variance for the proposed addition; the applicant will present the complete phase 1 and phase 2 plans at the Feb. 24 meeting. The commission voted to continue to Feb. 24 without discussion.
On other business the commission voted to issue an agricultural license renewal to Mark Kolinowski (applicant name appears variously in the record) at Barton Farm to tap five sugar maple trees near the parking lot. Laurie described the arrangement as the fourth year of a license in which, "in lieu of payment for that license, he is helping us manage the buckthorn out there." The license term approved runs through April 1, 2025; commissioners recorded the motion and a unanimous vote in favor.
Staff also put the commission on notice that SVT will again seek to conduct a prescribed burn this year, contingent on spring conditions and drought. Laurie said SVT will hold an informational session Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Goodnow Library and will schedule site visits for interested parties.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn and a recorded unanimous vote.
