The Sudbury Select Board voted Jan. 14 to approve routine business including a three-item consent calendar, a regional transportation dispatch agreement and meeting minutes, and to enter executive session to discuss collective bargaining.
On a motion by Select Board Member Dan Cartier and seconded by Lisa Kuchasian, the board approved the consent calendar. The consent calendar included: (1) acceptance of a declaration of restrictive covenants and grant of easement for stormwater management at 40 Skyview Lane (subject to the propertystormwater management permit); (2) authorization for the town manager to sign Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) initial compliance certification and related documents for roof repairs at General John Nixon and Josiah Haines elementary schools under the MSBA Accelerated Repair Program; and (3) acceptance of the resignation of Nancy Rubinstein from the Zoning Board of Appeals and authorization to send a letter of thanks.
The board also authorized the town manager to execute an intermunicipal agreement for a transportation-dispatch program that covers taxi and accessible vehicle dispatching among Acton, Littleton and Sudbury. Acton will serve as fiscal agent; the agreement runs through fiscal 2027 and includes pro rata cost shares. Sudburys share under the proposed agreement was explained as about $8,018.28 for the contract term presented to the board; officials said the town already had appropriations available for the program. Board members noted the program cost has risen from prior years and asked staff to explore alternatives over time while continuing service to riders.
The board approved draft minutes (Nov. 6) with member edits, approved the town newsletter schedule of deadlines for 2025 municipal updates and agreed to enter executive session to discuss strategy for collective bargaining (firefighters and patrol officers), citing a chapter 30A exemption.
How votes were recorded: the motions described above passed on roll call votes with all present members voting in favor; the meeting then moved into executive session without returning to open session.
