Hiram council approves Homer Lake park renovation, retreat contracts and venue use

HIRAM, Ga. — At its March 4 meeting the Hiram City Council approved a phased renovation plan for Homer Lake Memorial Park and authorized several small agreements for a council retreat and use of the city events venue.

Council voted to approve the renovations and improvements to Homer Lake Memorial Park as presented at a Feb. 25 work session and recommended in an attached proposal; the motion specified a phased approach to be funded by the city's recreational SPLOST funds. Councilmembers then approved a set of administrative agreements related to an upcoming council retreat and other routine items.

The mayor was authorized to enter into an agreement with the Georgia Municipal Association to facilitate the council retreat for an amount not to exceed $2,500, to be paid from the elected-officials training budget. The council also authorized an agreement with Fox Hall Resort for retreat food, beverage and meeting space costs not to exceed $5,100 and for accommodations not to exceed $2,500; both were funded from the elected officials training and lodging budgets, respectively. Council also approved a request allowing CareLink to use the city's events place, with a council member asking that the city and CareLink review the submitted proposal and agree on details (staff later noted the motion before the council was a yes-or-no authorization to allow use).
