Northwest ISD updates construction progress on Northwest High School, new campuses and district facilities

Facilities staff presented progress reports on several district construction projects, including Northwest High School renovations and new campuses in the district pipeline.

At Northwest High School, staff said the arena is nearing enclosure, seats are being installed and the district expects turnover after spring break. Work described includes the new weight room, locker rooms, industrial laundry facilities, a cosmetology lab, cafeteria expansion with grab‑and‑go service, and a remodeled Solomon Performing Arts Center entry. Staff said portions of the cafeteria will operate with food prepped offsite during construction and that initial service the first week will be disrupted.

Staff also provided photographs and status updates on the McCreary multipurpose facility (reported as essentially complete pending signage), the new administration building (progressing, with boardroom stonework and roof work underway), and upcoming work at Byron Nelson and Eaton High School for new stadiums and performing‑arts additions. Projects at Prairie View and Justin elementary campuses are advancing, with exterior work and interior cafeteria/library spaces nearing enclosure, staff said.

Facilities staff emphasized sequencing: while Northwest High School construction completes, the district will rely on other facilities for ongoing events and programs. Staff asked trustees to expect temporary inconveniences during turnover weeks and said they are coordinating with Aramark and campus leaders to maintain meal service during kitchen transitions.

No formal board actions were taken on construction items during the presentation.
