Community calls for transparent national superintendent search; board says it is evaluating national search firms

At the Feb. 25 Rock Hill School Board meeting a community member urged the board to conduct a national and transparent search for the district's next superintendent and recommended broad community representation on the search committee.
Lloyd Collins Jr. asked the board to ensure the search is not a perfunctory process and emphasized the importance of diversity on the search committee — parents, community leaders, business representatives and civic groups — so the selection reflects community priorities and secures buy-in.
Later in the meeting the board chair reported the board is evaluating proposals from national search firms and said the board expects to expedite the selection over the next one to two weeks. The chair said the result of that evaluation will be shared in open session when a decision is made.
Board members reiterated a commitment to transparency and said community input will inform the process. No selection was announced at the Feb. 25 meeting.
