Curriculum and technology seek continued reserves spending, network upgrades and a full-time tech integrator

Jen Goliath, director of curriculum, instruction and technology, and her team presented the district’s curriculum and technology requests for 2025–26, focusing on classroom instructional supports, equitable access and significant network upgrades funded from technology reserves.
Goliath said the department’s goals are “empowering the success of students and teachers” through professional development and equitable technology access. Jessica Smith, assistant director of technology, reviewed general-fund technology spending for standard repair, supplies and contractual renewals and said the department is not requesting increases to those lines for next year.
From technology reserves, the district allocated $200,000 in the current year to replace desktops, install UPS units for network closets, buy displays and projectors, and fund a new network core, wireless controller and access points. Goliath said the summer installation will finish the infrastructure upgrade and that the department requests the same $200,000 from reserves for 2025–26 to buy servers, server storage, additional UPS units and switches.
Staff also proposed a full-time tech integrator position to restore a prior model that funded a district-level integrator during COVID; Goliath and Kelly Stopa said the integrator role enables more co-teaching, planning and lesson creation with teachers than building-based, part-time integrators. The estimated cost for a full-time tech integrator was presented at roughly $85,000. The board heard additional BOCES requests tied to ThinkTech (an assessment/instruction product), a 0.2 FTE increase in BOCES tech time and 17 BOCES instructional resource days for science and other content-area supports. Administrators said part of the ThinkTech cost would be offset by eliminating underused products.
