Pendleton Community Library reports expanded programs, summer reading and new outdoor musical garden

Mrs. Neely, the South Madison Community School Corporation’s library board representative, told trustees that Pendleton Community Library’s partnership with district schools has produced strong participation in the Arabian Readers program and described a range of services and upcoming projects.
Neely said the reading program ran Oct. 1 through Feb. 28 with 1,525 students reading a total of 2,418,027 minutes (reported in the presentation as an aggregate) and described plans to expand after‑school tutoring and curricular collections. The library operates a weekly food pantry, Read and Feed, every Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. serving Fall Creek, Adams and Green Township residents; Neely said Read and Feed has been a primary food pantry in Pendleton for 15 years.
Other initiatives she highlighted include car‑seat inspections by certified inspectors, a mobile app that lets patrons register for programs and check out items, and a summer reading program kicking off June 1 with the theme “Color Your World.” She also announced a planned outdoor musical instrument garden supported by Tri Kappa and the South Madison Community Foundation and listed a slate of upcoming adult and youth programs.
Board members thanked Neely for her service as the district’s library representative.
