Communications director Britney Reed reported improved parent satisfaction and increased online engagement following the district’s adoption of the ParentSquare communications platform.
Reed told the board that survey responses dropped from 735 last year to 342 this year but that satisfaction rose from 71.4 percent satisfied/very satisfied to 85.1 percent. She said ParentSquare is now the most common channel parents use to receive district information, with email a close second because ParentSquare messages also generate emails. Reed reported a 7 percent increase in daily website users and higher social media following (up to 62.3 percent), and said ParentSquare shows 99 percent of families are contactable in the system, stressing the importance of keeping PowerSchool contact information up to date.
Reed also summarized ParentSquare feedback: 77.5 percent of respondents (about 265 people) were satisfied with the ParentSquare app; 3 percent of families (about 140 families) prefer a language other than English and can receive messages in their chosen language through ParentSquare. She noted challenges such as communication fatigue and navigating ParentSquare when parents have children in multiple buildings. Reed’s goals include growing Instagram and LinkedIn use, cleaning up PowerSchool records, and improving the district website.
Board members thanked Reed for her work and asked a question about how many languages were represented among non‑English preferences; Reed estimated “in the teens.”
