The District 5 Finance Committee on an unspecified date kept its review of a proposed revision to Policy DIG (Undesignated Fund Balance) as unfinished business, delaying any recommendation to the full board.
Committee members said they would not take a formal vote at this meeting and instead work by consensus. Miss Heard, a committee member, had proposed changing the district's undesignated fund-balance target from 16% to 20%. Mister Thompson, a committee member, said, "I'm not in a position at this time to want to, vote for recommending that to the board." With Mister Price absent and Miss Fird attending a conference, committee leaders said they would revisit the item at a later meeting.
The proposal comes as committee members emphasized that personnel accounts for roughly 85% of the district's finances and that finance committee review of personnel-related budget items is critical. The committee chair noted the item does not appear urgent and that more members' participation at a future meeting would be preferable before forwarding any recommendation to the board.
No formal motion or vote was recorded for the policy change; members agreed to keep the item on the unfinished-business list and discuss it again at a future meeting when more committee members, including Miss Fird, are present.
